History

KOG Edible Oils B.V. is part of the Kuok Group of companies. The Kuok Group began business in 1949 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, trading rice, sugar and flour and stands today for a diversified international conglomerate with interests in commodity trading, plantations, property and development, food and beverage, hotels and resorts, media, technology, venture capital, shipping, logistics, insurance and financial services.

The Kuok Group's interests include the world famous Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Perlis Plantations Bhd., Federal Flour Mills Bhd. and Pasir Gudang Edible Oils Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia, Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd., Pacific Carriers Limited, The South China Morning Post and Bangkok Post newspapers, Kerry Logistics and Kerry Properties based in Hong Kong and Fettraffinerie Brake in Germany.

The Group owns and manages extensive oil palm and sugar plantations, flour mills, palm oil mills and palm oil refineries in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Thailand, India, Germany and the Netherlands.

In December 2003 the KUOK Oils and Grains division decided to build a state of the art tropical oils refinery. Thus, KOG Edible Oils B.V. became the first venture in Europe, located at the heart of the Port of Rotterdam and 100%-owned by the KUOK Group.
